TREND OR CLASSIC?

SUBWAY TILE-TREND OR A CLASSIC?

white subway tile with white marble counters, usually carrara-it was everywhere; you could probably even find it at Home Depot.  That's when you know it's a trend gone too far!  Still you can't argue the classic shape and it's flexibility in application so....

how about using it in green?

classic but fresher with white

cabinets instead of dark & the marble

isn't cararra

kitchen in london, england

                 or in marble and taupe?

  bathroom designed by Steve Gambrell

or putting words on it?

                                        Puntiles available at Stonetile

It's really up to you how to take a classic tile and make it your own.  The possibilities seem endless!

More than Furniture

MORE THAN FURNITURE-CHRISTIAN WOO

Check out this article in the Globe and Mail on local woodworker, furniture & now kitchen designer, Christian WooI've long been an admirer of his pieces, seen either in his studio at the annual Culture Crawl or usually at one of my favourite home style retailers PROVIDE at 528 Beatty St in Vancouver.  His designs are so clean and seem to make the most of the wood he uses.  If I didn't love my antique dining table I'd be saving up for one of the above, currently at PROVIDE.  Instead I think it will be 2 of his bedside tables.

CANADIAN HOUSE & HOME FEATURE

CANADIAN HOUSE & HOME-SPECIAL ISSUE

"BEST DECORATING-YOUR STYLE GUIDE"

i was aked last year if I would have my allow my home to be photographed for Canadian House & Home.  Well known Vancouver photographer Janis Nicolay would be the photographer & the person to whom I owe so much credit, Interior Designer Nancy Riesco would do the styling.  My home look's pretty much like this-just not so tidy & I don't usually have large branches in my vases!

The idea was to show homeowners that when the kids are getting older and your household needs change, there can be more than 1 option.  For us, it means staying in our home in Point Grey as it's a 75 year old home that isn't huge, but large enough to host those  family get togethers and small enough to use & enjoy it every day.

We decided a couple of years ago to really make it look the way we wanted rather than thinking it had to be more traditional in style for  "resale"-the danger of being a realtor!

We used creamy white walls to showcase the things we have acquired in our travels and the art we have acquired both here and abroad. We've used lots of colour as well & it makes me feel much happier during our rainy Vancouver weather.!

Nancy Riesco was instrumental in helping us edit and display what we already owned and also add what we needed to make it all work.

I highly recommend Nancy whether you are doing a large or small scale interior project; her years of experience combined with her great sense of style will give you a home that looks like you.
