| Monday, January 14, 2013 UBER CAR SERVICE UPDATEby Karin Smith on Mon, Jan, 14, 2013 09:19 PM UPDATE ON UBER CAR SERVICE-NOT GIVING UP
I was raving about the car service availble from Uber but of course the taxi companies werent' happy and brought pressure to bear on the City of Vancouver. Uber is fighting it of course and often finds themselves in this position when going into a new market. Unfortunately for the time being they must charge a minimum of $75 per trip as a limousine trip as mandated by provincial law which effectively closes down the business. Celebrate their success and enjoy a 20% discount when you start your holiday shopping today at THE CROSS. It's a good excuse to head downtown, start your holiday shopping, and maybe find a few things for your own home-I love their Super Pile Towels, the John Robshaw Collection, great selection of pillows, & their jewellery is pretty fabulous too.

Wednesday, May 23, 2012 A NEW VERSION OF THE CORNER STOREby Karin Smith on Wed, May, 23, 2012 09:33 PM NOT THE CORNER STORE I USED TO KNOW!

LE MARCHE ST. GEORGES-4393 ST GEORGES AT THE CORNER OF 28TH
This great neighbourhood shop is located almost exactly half way between Main & Fraser streets on 28th. Growing up in Vancouver there were "corner stores" located in the midst of our neighbourhoods and they were my go to on allowance days. This one is a little different.
This corner store does stock groceries like organic eggs and milk, pasta & sauces, as well as toothpaste and soaps from Europe, the kind you find in the neighbourhood shops there. As well there is a wonderful assortment of croissants, sandwiches, & more to sit & enjoy or take home. On a recent visit on a sunny weekday the tables were mostly occupied while the rest of us took ours home.
As well there are wonderful handcrafted items from around the world; no surprise when the talented owner's mother is artist Patricia Larsen.
Open everyday until 6pm except for holidays-check it out yourself-press HERE for more information about their shop, online shopping, & upcoming events. Monday, April 9, 2012 Buy Local-Green Grads Exterior Cleaningby Karin Smith on Mon, Apr, 9, 2012 08:35 PM IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR-SPRING CLEANING!

I've used GREEN GRADS EXTERIOR CLEANING since 2005 when founder Callum Ng was a university athlete trying to get himself through school. I was impressed with his business then and continue to be today. Not only do they do a great job but they do it in a "green way" with great service too. What more can you ask for?
Click HERE for more information & how you can hire them for all your exterior cleaning needs. I highly recommend them! Thursday, March 29, 2012 18 KARAT-GRAND OPENING & RELAUNCHby Karin Smith on Thu, Mar, 29, 2012 12:11 AM 18 KARAT-GRAND OPENING & LAUNCH OF ONE-APRIL 12, 6-8PM
3039 Granville St. Live Music, Wine, & Food

I've been a big fan of 18 KARAT for many years for their great design at affordable prices & was disappointed when the company folded last year. It's back with a new owner offering the same great design at their South Granville store and to retailers around the world.
The store has done a soft opening for a few months and they were at the Toronto ID show in early February to announce their return to the design world.
